part of this article is true, such as language barrier and self-isolation, etc.  I think the language is the main issue, without good communication vehicle, you will not be able to mingle with the other Anerican students, therefore, Chinese tend to "stay together", thus lead to even slower improvement in English.....  so the first thing to do is to choose a place with not so many Chinese student if possible; then try to do homework with a group whick Chinese is not main language; three, it take time, do not frustrate yourself
